Morning walk
This morning I walked/ran/walked for 75 minutes. It rained sharply briefly. I got drenched. The feeling was very cleansing. There is a crispness in the air post that brief shower.
I was practising a breathing technique that I am learning – one of seven counts, four in breaths and three out breaths. Aligned to my footsteps.
The idea is to ensure exhalations are timed to coincide with both the left and right foot alternatively. This to ensure load distribution across both feet in a cyclical and equal manner. It prevents foot injury and also increases running stamina tremendously.
The technique itself is/was taught by Budd Coates, a famous running coach. He uses a five count pattern. I found it hard to start with a five count and am working my way up from a seven count steadily.
