How To Write A Chinese Poem
The usual Chinese poem, I am told, is four lines and the composition runs thus so…
The first line contains the initial phrase, the second line is the continuation of that phrase. The third line turns from this subject and begins an entirely new one. The fourth line brings the first three lines together…
My two Renmimbi Yuan (or is it two bits, nah, we’ll stick with the Yuan) on this poetic style:
Been working a decade in book keeping and finances
Somehow managed to delineate GAAP* and CRAP**
Earthquakes destroy all in their wake
But I ain’t no shattered accountant, yet!!!
For the uninformed reader
*GAAP – Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
**CRAP – Cleverly Rigged Accounting Ploys
And with apologies to D Adams, I may just win a galactic award for worst poetry yet (finishing behind the Vogons and that lady in Sussex, of course)…
